Membership

Do I need a membership to rent?
Yes. Our collection is available to members only, so we can keep it curated and well cared for. You can start with a credit pack, without committing to a monthly or yearly plan.
A credit pack is a one off amount of credits, valid for six months from the date of purchase, with no membership commitment. The Wardrobe Membership gives you credits every month, which roll over for up to six months, along with priority access to new arrivals, early access to events, preferential pricing on selected styling services and two seasonal wardrobe reviews each year. The Executive Circle adds a more personal community with private dinners, masterclasses, two private strategy sessions each year and a yearly credit allowance.
Credits are what you use across our collection and services. Each piece and session shows its credit value, so you always know what you are using. The number of credits included in each plan is shown on the membership page.
The Wardrobe Membership runs for six months. The Executive Circle runs for twelve months. A credit pack has no membership period. The credits simply expire after six months.
You can move to a larger plan whenever you like, and the change takes effect straight away. Moving to a smaller plan is not possible while your current membership period is running.
This applies to the Wardrobe Membership and the Executive Circle. A credit pack simply runs out. We send you a reminder two months before your membership period ends, and you can cancel up to one month before that date. If you do nothing, your membership continues month to month. From then on, you can cancel whenever you like with one month’s notice.
Credits roll over for up to six months from the date you receive them. After that, they expire.
Renting
How long can I keep a piece?
Rentals are available for six, fourteen or thirty days. You choose the rental length and start date when you book. Thirty days is the maximum for a single booking.
Of course. The period you booked is charged in full, even if the piece is returned early.
Every piece includes its size, measurements and the size worn by the model. Still unsure? Come and try it on in our showroom.
You need a card that works online. A debit card is fine. Every rental is booked with a card on file, so anything that remains outstanding after your piece is returned can be settled, such as a late return, repair or replacement.
This depends on the replacement value of the piece, which is shown on every product page before you book. For pieces up to €500, we hold nothing. Your membership and the card on your account provide the security. Between €500 and €2,500, we hold €200. Above €2,500, we hold €350 and verify your identity before your first booking. These pieces are never sent by post. You can collect them from our showroom, or we can bring them to you within the Amsterdam area. A hold is reserved, not taken, and is released within five working days after the piece is returned and checked. Your bank may need a little longer to make the amount available again. See our Rental Policy.
If a piece is also available for sale, yes. The credits you spent on your last rental of that piece are returned to your account, so you only pay the difference, provided you purchase it within 30 days of returning it.

Delivery and returns

What does delivery cost?
Shipping costs are shown at checkout before you place your order. Every shipment is insured while in transit. This is not optional, as many of our pieces are difficult to replace. Return shipping for a rental is on us, including insurance, as long as you use the label we provide.
Your rental arrives on the delivery date you chose when booking. For everything else, place your order before 2pm on a working day and we dispatch it the next working day. You will receive tracking as soon as the parcel is with the carrier.
Not yet. We currently deliver within the Netherlands.
The carrier will try again or leave your parcel at a nearby collection point. Collect it as soon as you can. Your rental period starts on the delivery date you chose, whether or not the parcel is already in your hands.
Use the prepaid return label included with your delivery and the packaging it arrived in. Hand the parcel to PostNL or DHL on or before your return date. This is the date it needs to be sent, not the date it needs to reach us.
Late returns are charged in six day periods, regardless of the length of your original rental. Once a period has started, it is charged in full, so one day late and five days late cost the same. From the seventh day, another period begins. If something outside your control is holding you up, let us know as soon as you can.
A loose thread, a button that has come away or a small mark are part of renting, and they are on us. For more significant damage, we charge the actual cost of the repair. We always speak to you first and show you the repair cost before anything is charged.
If a piece is lost, can no longer be rented out, or has not reached us within 14 days of your return date, we may charge the full replacement value. This value is shown on every product page before you book.
No, and please don’t. Cleaning is included. Do not wash, dry clean, steam or iron a piece yourself unless we have asked you to. Simply return it as it is and we will take care of the rest.
You can cancel until 10pm on the evening before dispatch, and your credits will be returned in full. After that, or once your piece is on its way, credits cannot be returned.
Yes. You have 14 days from the day you receive a purchase to tell us that you are withdrawing from it, without giving a reason, and a further 14 days to send it back. You may examine and try on the piece as you would in a shop. The cost of returning a purchase is yours unless the piece is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered. We refund within 14 days of hearing from you, using the original payment method. See our Shipping & Returns.

Services

What is a Closet Detox?
A guided edit of your wardrobe. We go through it with you and decide what stays, what goes and what deserves another chance. A Closet Detox is booked by the hour, with a minimum of three hours. If more time is needed, we will let you know during the appointment. You can then decide whether to add the extra time or book a second session.
We start with what your wardrobe is missing and build a targeted shopping list. A stylist sources a personal selection for you, and you choose how you would like to buy it. We can send you the shopping links, or purchase the pieces on your behalf. You then try everything on, we go through it together and take care of any returns.
Personal Shopping is about finding pieces you do not have yet. Personal Styling is about making more of what you already own, or being dressed for one particular evening in our showroom.

Both a Closet Detox and Personal Shopping start at €450 for three hours, including VAT. Additional hours are €150, including VAT, and are only added with your approval. You can pay by invoice or from your credit balance. Members on a monthly or yearly plan receive a reduced rate on selected services.

For Personal Shopping, the fee covers the search and the appointment. Your shopping budget sits outside this fee. If we purchase pieces on your behalf, we add a 10% handling fee to those pieces. You can also choose to purchase them yourself through the links we send.

In our showroom, at your home or online. We agree on the format together during your intake. For sessions at your home, travel at €0.30 per kilometre and any parking costs are added to the final invoice.
Through Request an appointment on any service page. We will get back to you to arrange the intake.
Account
Where do I find my rentals and appointments?
Everything is together in My Account: your rentals, orders, appointments and credit balance.
In My Account, under Account details.
In My Account, or by writing to us. See When does my membership renew, and how do I cancel? above for the notice period.
If it concerns a rental that is currently with you, such as a delivery that has not arrived, damage or a return you cannot make on time, write to contact@thecollectives.amsterdam as soon as you can. The sooner we know, the more we can do. For anything else, use the contact form and we will get back to you within two working days.
Personal Shopping is about finding pieces you do not have yet. Personal Styling is about making more of what you already own, whether that means finding combinations that suit your body and your days or dressing you for one particular evening in our showroom. Personal Styling is arranged through an appointment, like our other services.
