Meet the Collectives

On 1 September, during Amsterdam Fashion Week, The Collectives opens online.

Until now, The Collectives has been a showroom in Amsterdam, bringing together a carefully curated collection of designer, pre owned and vintage fashion, alongside personal styling and the time to find what truly works for you. From September, that same wardrobe of more than 800 pieces will be available wherever you are, to rent or buy and delivered to your door, with the same personal styling behind it.

We started The Collectives because we kept seeing the same thing in the wardrobes we were invited into. They were full, yet somehow there was nothing to wear. Pieces hung untouched, some still with their tags on, while a dress bought in a hurry for a wedding years ago was still taking up valuable space. The problem was rarely a lack of clothes. More often, it was simply not having a clear view of what was already there, what was worth keeping and what was actually missing.

That is where we begin. What do you wear week after week? What never gets worn? What do you reach for again and again? And what would genuinely add something to your wardrobe? Some pieces earn their place for years, like the coat you always come back to or the jacket that works with almost everything. Others are needed for a particular moment: a wedding, a dinner, an event, or simply an evening when you feel like wearing something different. That is where renting makes sense. You wear the piece when you need it, return it afterwards, and keep your own wardrobe focused on the things you actually wear, while having access to much more when you want it.

Moving online means you no longer need to be in Amsterdam on a weekday afternoon to experience The Collectives. The curation, styling and personal advice remain the same. They can now reach much further.

There is also a lot of beautiful clothing that already exists and deserves to be worn. Pieces from previous collections, archive fashion, samples and garments that were made but never found their right owner. Much of it is in excellent condition and has barely been worn. We want to work with more brands and retailers to bring these pieces back into circulation, keeping their value intact and presenting them as fashion rather than clearance. Because making a more conscious choice should not mean compromising on what you want to wear.

The Collectives opens online on 1 September, during Amsterdam Fashion Week. The showroom in Amsterdam stays exactly where it is.
